There are some movies that really leave a very important mark on your life. You know, the ones that you watched over and over when you were a kid or a movie that just really spoke out to you or maybe even inspired you. For me, I have several of those. But topping the list would be Disney's 'The Lion King 2- Simba's Pride". No, it's not my favourite Disney movie, it just has a lot of importance.
Firstly, the movie was closure. For Mufasa's death of course. It's like. They could be happy even after Mufasa wasn't there. They could have a normal(?) and happy life. Life doesn't stop after someone important dies. And this was really important for me because subconsciously, I would always associate Mufasa's death with my own loss which had occurred at roughly the same time as when I had watched the king being crushed to death by those hoofs. (WHY? WHY GOD WHY?)
So. It was closure.
Secondly, this was the movie that made me realize I really liked to sing. And that I could sing. Pretty well. (I think? I hope?) All the songs were great but one that really struck my
vocal chords attention was 'We are one'. I used to LOVE singing that song.
And lastly. Upendi. The most magical place in the world. What seemed like the funnest place to be. I really wanted to find it and go to this place. For realz. I'm not even kidding. I dissected the lyrics to locate this place. First it said something about Mt. Kilimanjaro. Okay, no. Going THERE would be hard. But then I noticed it said that my heart would take me there. How stupid. I kept asking my heart over and over and it wouldn't take me to bloody Upendi. So then I gave up on it.
